Cant believe some of the line closures
« on: September 16, 2010, 03:13:30 PM »
I know its the sim... Okay, I know.  I get it.... we aren't flying overseas since we're only playing 2 continents.

I am just laughing at the possibility that Boeing would have ever close down the 747 line.

The Fokker 50 is done but the 70/100 isnt!?  IRL, the F100 was a massive failure.

De Havilland is still making a plane with a range of 0 nm (I know, its a corrected bug)

Im based at La Guardia (KLGA) and Cleveland (KCLE).

I would LOVE to see an A380 land at either airport.

At LGA - you can land, as long as you don't mind getting wet  ;)

There were some cases when the plane ended up in the water...

According to a mix of AWS and Wikipedia data, the A380 could fly from ALB to LGA with 264 pax.  It can be done.

Saab 2000 was a failure but does quite well in this game.

For reasons related to its untimely entrace into service.... it came at the height of the 'fear' or 'hatred' of flying on props, meanwhile ERJs and CRJ50s were being pumped out nonstop, which is hardly modeled in AWS.

I've had a few roller coaster approaches to LGA where I thought I'd end up in the water....

I think a plane I was in was put in a highly turbulent 2 minute turn... people were yacking all over the place.

Not really a massive failure, 280 planes off the line for the f100 and and another ~50 for the f70, which came late to the game, isn't bad. In fact, had the problem not largely been with mismanaging both the company and the production, they might have been able to reduce costs in order to compete with Embraer's ERJs and Bombardier's CRJs.

I like fokkers way more than I like ERJs, too... they feel less cramped, even in the super-economy seating configs.

It probably has to do something with headroom.  I have to bend my head to the side walking down an aisle in CRJs.
