[-] Point To Point Airline System

Boiler Dweller:
I do not know about yall but even in real life i dislike the hub and spoke system. If anyone has ever been in a airport that has SWA in it you know the benefit of doing point to point. I would like it if this game could have it as a option when you start up your airline. I know some people prefer the hub and spoke system but i think point to point should be a option to the player.

ArcherII:
+1 on this, I think it would add depth to AWS. But.
Particularly I'm no fan of restricting yourself at the very beginning of a game, say "I choice to run only a low cost" or "Seasonal charters" or whatever.
I think this is the same for Point to Point or Hub or Focus City or anything. If you want to do it, do it. Shouldn't need to be an option, just having the possibility of doing it. It would allow the players to develop their own strategies, and if things don't go as they like turn things around and eliminate, say, all the point-to-point flights from the schedule and so on and so forth.
Again, having to fill an option of what will be the characteristics of your airline at the beginning of a game is a terrible idea IMHO, as I've said above. I don't want to go BK because I choose the wrong approach and I can't revert it, just be able to move forward on other direction.
Hope it helps

I would favor this on the condition that you would have to build MX bases (you would get one free to start). So if you flew a point to point airline the plane would have to visit a MX base once per week for A check and once per month for B check. If you had a MX base in LGA, every plane would have to pass thru LGA at least once per week. If you wanted to expand on the west coast, youd need to purchase a MX base capable of A/B check.

Boiler Dweller:
You would still have your main base when you start out. This is some what i thought about how it should work.

1. If you so chose to go point to point you op for higher maintenance on your planes.
2. Your plane may stay away from home base over night but for a fee when its not at your base.
2a. This is for when the ptp airline has over 20 planes at the airport at one time. At this point a fee is imposed for parking your aircraft. (thats just idea im not sure on that one.
3. Secondary bases can be used in the same way there already used.
4. A airline doing point to point must leave at least 20 % of the slots open for other airlines. This will keep people that use ptp from flooding the base airport or any airport.

I just thought that would be some good ground rules.

JumboShrimp:
There is another request for "baby" bases.  That could bring us closer to a what you may be thinking...

The advantage of point to point over hub and spoke is that you don't have to transfer in hubs...  But, since there is no connecting traffic, in current version of AWS every flight is pretty much a point to point flight...
