I'd say let it as it is. This will enable anyone to follow their own registration techniques. With the default reg number you can actually know which aircrafts are the new ones and which are the ones you already have. This is useful specially when you come back from a long journey and you had a list of aircrafts in order previously.

while I love the idea.... um because it is a thread I created. However, I'd have to agree with Sigma here.

One thing that is annoying for people who don't care to set registration numbers is that from the schedule screen, if you want to access the aircraft, clicking on the registration (that has not been set) does not bring you to the aircraft screen, but it forces you to set the registration number. I posted a feature request here:

to separate the registration icon link and view aircraft links on the scheduling screen. It should be a really easy change to make (IMO).
