Opinions on Grand Caravan 12 seater...
« on: May 19, 2010, 02:35:27 AM »
has any used them and done ok with them? I have an airline based JNU and there are many small towns where just such an aircraft could work well. There's also the Beech 99 which seats 19. I really don't need much more than that. Any likes, dislikes, preferences, advantages of one over the other? I know I have the safety of 2 engines with the Beech. Anyway. just soliciting comments.

I don't believe I've ever heard of anyone successfully turning a profit with a 12-seater in AWS or even a 19-seater for that matter.

If it's possible at all, it will require an awful lot of them to cover the overhead.

I don't think thats even possible to be honest.

Overhead costs would kill you from day 1. I think the lowest one can go is 30 seaters.

Maybe in Beginners World it could work... lol!!

They should be axed from the game or the game has to be changed in a way that 6 to 30 pax AC's need little resources. By changing the game it will be possible for people to run a baby airline in a profitable way... opening up a new game play dimension. Furthermore I think the 5th freedom of air should be possible for planes up to 35 pax.

20-seater class works fine if you know what you are doing. (read: it is hard...)

But less than that isn't probably a great success until I change the staff systems.

There won't be any made-up regulations regarding transportation rights..
