more realism please :-)
« on: April 20, 2010, 04:04:25 PM »
Hi,

I wish for more realism. This game should be fun and are played as realistically as possible. Unfortunately, some players are only interested in making as many flights as possible without regard to reality.

In this case, Sky World. Nonsense flights on the route LHR - EWR, specifically on Saturday. But also at every Day...2 flights within 40 minutes in the middle of the night!?!?!?!

I love competition, but realistic competition please :-)

Have fun and good luck for all

Hi sebastian.

Those flights departing that late at night will probably have pax close to zero. I have this with a few competitors on my routes, flying the same capacity, but he departs at night and my market share is 99%. I guess it is about the same in this case. So, nothing to worry about.

Where is the realism? Look at Sky World...3 flight within 3 hours at the route to newark.
This has nothing to do with real competition  >:( Please stop this!

Yes

I agree, its true, look at me some flights depart at the same time to same place, reason.."".slots""",,,,,look at LHR and tell me where you can do your nice spread.........NOT!!!  Unfortunatly this is a game of strategy, much like chess, your past moves determine you future!!!   Even though Sky will be competition to me in the coming years, my strategy is to limit his movement in LHR, and when the time is right.......wallah!!!

Some guys fill the whole demand up for a route, Like LHR-HKG etc, this is also unreal but its the game........I did also fight for more reality and saw complaining did not help, just hopped on the bad wagon and did as everyone........fly like crazy(not like Crazy Jet, who flew himself into oblivion) ;D

Regards
JM

That's the problem with selecting a major airport like that.

You're boned early because everyone else is looking to go there as well.

Now, you're stuck there.  Now, you can only update your planes and wait for your second hub.... which all the other local airlines are also on.

I see it this way, the more popular the base is, the harder it will be to dominate.  The days of Magic Carpet owning are over.

If you don't like the situation in LHR, either go buy some A380s or move out!

BA has 6 flights from Heathrow to JFK daily, without counting code-sharings. The closest are around 1h apart (17.00h/18.05h).

I'm quite certain that one could find hundreds of examples of flights that occur between destinations at very close departure times.

Southwest departs Dallas for Houston every 15-30 minutes for 18 hours straight.

American's got a number of destinations it flies to 20 times a day over about 16 hours out of DFW.

And those are only singular airlines.  Throw in the other airlines ALSO running those routes, and you can easily get departure times every 15 minutes.  I bet there's upwards of 80 flights every day between DFW-HOU for example.

I'm quite certain one could find similar arrangements of flights every 15-45 minutes between most every major Domestic destination within the US.

There are 75 flights for Syd -Mel daily (from 06.00 to 22.00), which means there's a flight for about every 10 min.

Also, there're 155 flights (inc some cargo flights) a day from Beijing to Shanghai...
