A380-900
« on: January 21, 2010, 05:57:26 PM »
Dear AirwaySim Management,

Since the game is will be based on predictions am i asking too much if you are planning to launch the A380-900? Airbus said it would be launched around 2015. Also will there be a narrow body successor for the B737/A320?

thanks and kind regards,

I am not part of AirwaySim management, I'm just one of your fellow players but I think I can answer part of your question.

I believe Airbus has said recently that they don't plan on replacing the A320 until at least 2020 or 2022.  So that wouldn't fall into this game's time frame.  I don't know if Boeing has said anything about the timeframe for the 737 replacement, other then that it's the next major project on their plan.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will be along shortly to correct me.  ;D

Yep i think you are right about the narow bodies, maybe a 320 with Sharklets and engine improvements?

But my bigger question is the mega A380-900 with 950 possible economy seats :o

The -800 model is the only A380 in the database so far as there hasn't been enough reliable data on the other models. Have to check the situation again in some months or so.

(same goes for the 737/320 replacements, even further, as there is no such design at all yet, so one cannot really start inventing those planes from out of nowhere) ;)

Thank you for your reply Sami,

As regards the new A320 family with sharklets and engine updates plus 1 tonne extra on MTOW?

Hmm, they will be re-engining the A320 and 737 airframes in the 2016-2020 period as someone already said. The new A320 will feature winglets which is great!

The model in the link above seems to just have winglets, I don't think it is the A320 replacement, just another upgrade to keep customers happy.

Future narrow body replacement projects for Airbus and Boeing are being held back because of big projects - A380, A350, 787, 747-8.

China and Russia are entering the new narrowbody market with the SSJ, MS21 and COMEC 919, the latter two choosing Western engines. Can't forget the CSeries either!

They are probably the newest generation narrowbodies until Airbus or Boeing do something, the market has been neglected.

On a side note it would be great to see winglets added as a buying option for some aircraft in-game, or even as retro fit kits for 2nd hand a/c.
