When will the Berlin Wall fall?
« on: January 10, 2010, 03:05:07 PM »
Big change in traffic is expected after the end of the Soviet Union.
In the real life

The Berlin Wall fell on November 9 1989.
The reunification of of the two Germanies happened in October 3, 1990.
The Russian Federation was created after the fall of the Soviet Union on December 26 1991.

When will the passenger loads be affected in this game and which history date had the biggest influence? Any ideas?

I think the idea of the randomization is that there should be a little surprise in it. I think I know one person that might know...  ;)

Best regards,

Yep but it is not forbidden to speculate on which date or which period it could happen  ;)

The dates for country changes are real.. = as per real world..

Unfortunately though there are no news on dashboard for these .. (yet, feature is added later)

Ok so we can always speculate. Which date will have the biggest impact on passenger load ?
The fall of the Berlin Wall and the opening of the eastern borders.
The re-unification
or the implosion of the Soviet Union ?

If we, say have a flight to Frankfurt - Main airport; after the unification of Germany, will we have to create a new flight as it is technically in a new country? Even though the ICAO codes and locations geographically are the same? Or will it just carry over.?

Thanks,
Alex

If you gotta a flight from West Germany to East Germany already now (for example) you don't have to do anything. But of course having a flight now wouldn't make any sense as the demand is 0.. (there's no feature in prohibiting you for flying it though)

What you should notice mainly are any routes to Soviet Union area - there will be some changes to them, demandwise.

I meant if I had a flight from outside Germany to inside, would it still just go to the same airport regardless in the geopolitical change?

Obviously demand will change but will the route itself change? i.e. Will it get deleted from my schedule and I will have to make a new one or will it just carry on business as usual.

Sorry if I didn't make my question clear the first time.

The system should not delete your routes, unless one of your planes leases run out, but in that case the route gets unassigned. No country changes should cause a route any changes, besides the country name that the destination city is in. The route will still remain scheduled until you delte or move it.

Yes your flights will still use the same airports.
