You're the largest airline at a particular airport.

Greetings from Lapland :)

That means you have a big share of the slots at the airport and the higher share you got the higher the cost... Part of things to make life easier for small operators.

Awesome, I knew being popular was expensive, so just say I had biggest market share at more than 1 airport do I get monopoly fees there?

Yeap.  Not sure what percentage exactly you need to own to get them, but you can get hit with the fee at more than just your home airport if you have other "focus cities".

You should consider it an honour to be charged these fees; it is basically a decoration that says that you have been growing very successfully with your airline and are hence considered to contribute your solidarity package. In Europe we love those kind of state sponsored initiatives.

When you mouseover the slot fees when setting up a route, it breaks down all the costs to establish the slots.  If applicable, you'll see "Anti-Monopoly Fee".

Not sure if I just hadn't noticed before, but I've been fluctuating between 48 and 51% market share at MSP in DotM for a few game months now and I'm finally starting to see these fees crop up.  Ouch.   :P

I'm betting it's based on the percentage of slots you hold, and not market share.  I only have ~30% market share but have over 45% of the used slots and I'm paying the fees.  Either that or two airlines at ~30% market share are both considered monopolies.
