Change of rules on airline names
« on: November 01, 2009, 05:48:58 PM »
A small change of rules regarding airline names inside the game worlds will come into force shortly.

At the moment all names identical or very similar to real world trademarks (such as real world airline names) are already not allowed. The system also uses a filter list to automatically detect most of these and the users have the ability to report any airline names the filter did not detect. As an example a name like "EazyJet" would not be allowed as it is too similar to "EasyJet" when used as an simulated airline name.

The new rule will consider the "Airlines" vs. "Airways" endings in airline names. Previously we have decided to allow names that have a nationality name and then either of those two words after it, as long as it is not identical to the respective real-world airline name - such as "British Airlines". But after some consideration this rule will change now as the names are still too similar.

Airline owners affected by this rule change should contact the administration and specify the new desired airline name and 3-letter code to get a free rebranding.
