[ok] YTZ not able to handle Bombardier Q400?
doucetj:
I find this strange as Porter Airlines is running an exclusive fleet of Q400's with 70 pax out of YTZ to a wide range of destinations.
http://www.flyporter.com/en/fleet.aspx
The game will only allow flights into YTZ with Q400 with a max of 26 pax???
swiftus27:
in game it has a 1460 runway requirement and the runway at Toronto City Centre is 1219.
I confirmed that runway 8/26 is 1216m.
The Takeoff run on the Bombardier Dash 8 per wiki is 1402m.
Is there a hot & high variant?
doucetj:
Looks like they may be using the Q400 only on flights of 700 NM or less to get around fuel loads.
Farthest direct destination for Porter is YHZ at 686 NM while YYT is served via YOW or YHZ.
Check out 500 NM segment specs on Bombardier site...

swiftus27:
makes sense... they must be running with dry tanks when they take off. God help them if they have to orbit the airfield they want to land at.
Anyways, it says that they need 1134m to take off with a 500nm range. That's cutting it close.
Or can they run the engines up with the brakes on? I know it isnt smart, but it could give the extra oomf needed to take off.
Riger:
Head Wind and Cooler Air are factors that will (can) influence the take-off run required. I have seen many heavies waiting for the temp to drop so they can get the runway requirement for departure. Cape Town to Heathrow in a B744 was (occasionally) one of those.
Best Regards
Richard
