Because of Chinese Civil War in late 1940s, Republic of China lost the control of Mainland China and relocated to Taiwan and some outlying islands, while People's Republic of China took the control of Mainland China. Since then, Mainland China and Taiwan are controlled by two antagonistic authorities.

However, although the civil war has not de jure ended yet, Cross-strait charter has sucessfully implemented since mid 2000s.

:P Same case here in Osaka, the pax demand to airport like Melbourne and Auckland are not even enough to support with a 767-class aircraft.

Same case for me in Tokyo, maybe we still have to wait until passenger demand number being scaled up to "modern level"
