A320 production list query
« on: August 13, 2009, 05:52:49 PM »
With the new production list slot allocation, I thought that when there was a gap in the schedule, all subsequent orders would shift forward.  Currently there is a free production slot on 24th April 1997.  I have tried purchasing 1 aircraft and it does not fill the gap nor have the delivery dates changed.  Thoughts anyone?

Dave :)

thats already explained before on the forum.
Its because otherwise you should get the plane earlier then expected and maybe you don't have the money

It says underneath 'If a new order is made, or orders cancelled, the slots will move. The manufacturer will also remove all empty slots before the production of each aircraft begins'

I don't understand your reply - sorry.  I'm not bothered about using the production slot for myself, as you can see from the screen shot I already have orders.  I know I can't jump the queue, but that doesn't explain why the production dates have not shifted forward to fill the gap.

Is that slot less than 6 months away from current date? If yes, then it is not moved ... as all order dates are locked by that time.

So if an empty slot is left in the queue the production line will just produce fewer aircraft that month than the production rate?

Well not always .. as if the empty slot is for example 5 months from today, the slots after that are not moved forward anymore but a new order from some airline could still fill that slot as it's more than 2-4 months away which is the plane build time ... It's a bit complicated overall.

Oh yes, and also .. if you try to make a new order to get that slot, it will of course not work as your last delivery is AFTER that empty slot .. But some airline who has no pending orders may still be able to get that one. But a bit strange why such a single free slot is still there. But nothing that alarming..
