How long will the Fokker 100 Line remain open?
« on: August 07, 2009, 09:16:26 PM »
I read somewhere that the production lines will not close as in real life and instead rely on the production rates to decide their fate.

Does the order backlog have to be over a certain amount for the line to stay open after the REAL close date or how is this factored in?

I say this because the Fokker 100's are great little aircraft for my airline and i plan to operate about 100 of them, I dont want the line to close in 1997 as in real life so how do i keep it open?

Enough orders in the backlog and/or last delivery date still far away. Can't remember the exact figures .. but more than 20-40 pending orders and it should be safe. And closure comes with 6 month advance notice - and even still you can make a difference and change the line's status to "normal" again by making a large order.

(sorry no exact figures avlb just now)

If closure of the production line is announced will huge orders still save it or is it done for at that point?

yes, during the 6 months time a large order will change the line to regular status again.

what happens with the 737 lines, does the NG render the Classic line obsolete or can that stay open longer too? if so i can see it open the whole of the game

The new variants / replacements to existing models is not modeled in that way as it would be a bit complicated. So each line is independent..
