Be careful ordering too many planes
« on: August 07, 2009, 03:46:40 PM »
Just as an example, one airline based at Heathrow has 47 744s ordered.

While ordering all these planes is a great accomplishment, these large airports often have no slots left to use them.  We have seen in many past games that this is a fatal mistake.  It is too expensive to cancel the leases and you literally have them sitting on the ground the whole time costing you money.

Just be advised as you don't want all of your hard work going to naught.

Dont get me started on that.  So many people at the other long haul airports are too scared to compete.

LOL, yes it looks like we have a number of candidates going for the rush. Also, I believe to have seen many of those ordering while the initial leases had not kicked in yet, who now appear to have some difficulty getting out of the red.

I'm still afraid of getting too many aircrafts (meaning getting more loans!). Currently I just have 6 aircrafts and 2 pending on order.  When compared to SilverSky, we are just a very small airline!  ::)

Remember in JA2, at the end of the game, there was a number of other airlines bypassing the top boys in a rush. So stick to your strategy and implement it. Let's all hope for high oil prices - I love it.

LHR = a disaster. Only some newbie would go into LHR  ::).

When the slots are filled, all you can really do is sit it out lol.

Yes, I fear the same for Paris CDG right now. But I still have a few years to consolidate my position... However, I believe that the new ordering system makes a difference in so far, as no one big airline is able to block the order line for one specific a/c type early in the game. That's a nice improvement.

Well, I am facing a lot of compatition in the US market and I am afraid of expanding my fleet. I do it the slow way this time. Last game I was in Malaga Spain, no compeition on most routes... this is something else.
